Laying roof tiles is an advanced process which ensures a property’s roof is durable and weatherproof, to protect the overall structure from damage.
How do you lay Roof Tiles?
Step One: Preparation
We begin with the preparation stage; this is where we ensure that what we are about to lay these tiles on is fit for use. This can include checking the Timber Battens, the Roof felt or membrane and the Roof Eaves and Ridge Boards.
Step Two: Beginning the Process
The first row of tiles is laid along what is known as the eaves. These tiles are starter tiles, which provide a super secure base for the rest of the tiles to be laid.
Step Three: Laying in Rows
Tiles are then laid in staggered rows, starting from the bottom and working upwards. Each tile overlaps the ones below, and this is done to prevent any water or moisture from seeping through the tiles. The roof tiles are then secured using nails or clips to the timber battens.
Step Four: Securing the Ridge
At this step, we install tiles along the ridge of the roof (the roof peak) with mortar, and then install tiles along the sloping edges of the roof. These tiles seal the roof and provide additional wind resistance for the overall structure.
Step Five: Quality Check
Once all of the roof tiles are installed, we then complete a thorough inspection to ensure your roof is aligned and properly secured. Once complete, it’s officially a job well done!
