What type of Roof do I have?

Understanding the roof of your property as a homeowner is essential for a multitude of reasons. So, in this post, we will be exploring the most common types of roofs found on properties across the UK.

Gable Roof, this is one of the Types of Roofs covered in the Sutton Coldfield Roofers Article.

Gable Roof

This distinct roof type consists of two sloping sides which come together to create the middle ridge. You’ll notice the two triangular shapes which are formed at each end of the roof, these are known as the Gables (Hence the name!). This design of roof is great for shedding rain, which we get a lot of in Britain.

Hip Roof, this is one of the Types of Roofs covered in the Sutton Coldfield Roofers Article.Hip Roof

The Hip Roof features slopes on all four sides, which meet at the middle to create a ridge. This type of roof is great for wind resistance, which is ideal for homes in more exposed environments. You will typically find this type of roof on older detached homes and bungalows.

T-Shaped Roof, this is one of the Types of Roofs covered in the Sutton Coldfield Roofers Article.T-Shaped Roof

One of the most common roof types happens to be the T-shaped roof. As the name suggests, this roof type is where two sections of the roof meet to form a “T” shape, or in some cases, an “L” shape! The T-shaped roof type allows for rain runoff and great weatherproofing.

Mono Pitched Roof, this is one of the Types of Roofs covered in the Sutton Coldfield Roofers Article.Mono-pitched Roof

The distinct Mono-pitch roof is a simple single-pitched roof. You will find this type of roof commonly on home extensions and garages.

Dormer Roof, this is one of the Types of Roofs covered in the Sutton Coldfield Roofers Article.Dormer Roof

This is a rather unusual type, as this is technically not a roof in itself, but rather a smaller roof pitched within a larger main roof! This structure is a small roof which usually houses a window and is used to provide space in the attic.

Flat Roof, this is one of the Types of Roofs covered in the Sutton Coldfield Roofers Article.Flat Roof

As the name suggests, this roof type is completely flat! A flat roof system must have a fall to create efficient drainage for rain and the weather.
